ODR Payment Plans

If you cannot pay your debt in full, the Louisiana Office of Debt Recovery (ODR) may allow you to pay your debt over time through an approved payment plan.

A payment plan can help you resolve your debt while avoiding additional collection activity, provided you remain in compliance with the terms of your agreement.

Important: Submitting a Payment Plan Application does not guarantee approval. Every request is reviewed individually.

Payment Plan Process

  1. Apply

    Complete and submit the Payment Plan Application.

  2. ODR Reviews Your Request

    ODR reviews your application to determine eligibility. Approval is not automatic.

  3. Receive Your Agreement

    If approved, ODR will generally send your payment plan agreement by email within approximately three business days.

  4. Make Monthly Payments

    Make each payment by the due date to remain in compliance with your agreement.

  5. Pay Off Your Balance

    You may make additional payments or pay your balance in full at any time.

Before You Apply

Please have the following information available before completing your application:

  • ODR Debtor Number or Agency Debt ID
  • Mailing address
  • Telephone number
  • Email address (recommended)
  • Requested monthly payment amount

Monthly Payment Requirement

The minimum monthly payment is generally:

5% of the balance when the payment plan is established, or $25, whichever is greater. Your approved payment-plan agreement will specify your required monthly payment.

How to Apply

2. Submit Your Application
Complete the application with all required information.

3. Wait for Review
ODR will review your request. If approved, the payment plan agreement will be issued electronically within approximately 3 business days.

If additional information is needed, ODR will contact you.

After Your Plan is Approved

Once your payment plan has been approved:

  • Make each payment by the due date.
  • Keep your mailing address, telephone number, and email address up to date.
  • Continue making payments until your balance is paid in full.
  • You may make additional payments or pay your balance off early at any time.

Important Information

  • Payment plan approval is not automatic.
  • Incomplete applications may delay processing.
  • State income tax refunds and other eligible state payments may continue to be applied to your debt until the balance is paid in full.
  • Failure to comply with your payment plan may result in additional collection actions as authorized by law.

If your debt involves the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles (OMV):

  • An ODR payment plan does not remove a driver's license suspension or vehicle registration block.
  • You may need to establish a separate OMV Installment Agreement.
