Before You Contact the Office of Debt Recovery

Have the Following Information Ready


Depending on your situation, please have as many of the following items available as possible:

  • Your ODR notice or letter
  • ODR account or case number
  • Your full name
  • Date of birth
  • Last four digits of your Social Security Number, if requested for identity verification
  • Driver's license number, if your issue involves an OMV suspension
  • Current mailing address
  • Daytime telephone number
  • Email address, if applicable

If You Are Calling About a Payment


Please have:

  • Your account or case number
  • The amount you wish to pay
  • Your preferred payment method
  • Any recent payment confirmation numbers or receipts

If You Have Already Made a Payment

Be prepared to provide:

  • Date of payment
  • Amount paid
  • Confirmation or transaction number
  • Where the payment was made, such as online or by mail

If You Are Requesting a Payment Plan


Please be prepared to discuss:

  • Your monthly income
  • Your monthly living expenses
  • How much you can reasonably afford to pay each month
  • Whether you have made previous payment arrangements

If You Disagree With the Debt


Gather any documents that support your position before contacting us. Examples include:

  • Payment receipts
  • Cancelled checks
  • Bank statements
  • Court documents
  • Agency correspondence
  • Tax returns, when applicable
  • Other supporting documentation

You may be asked to submit copies of these documents for review.

If Your Driver's License Is Suspended


Please have:

  • Your driver's license number
  • Your ODR case number
  • Any correspondence received from the Office of Motor Vehicles (OMV)
  • Any documentation showing recent payments or compliance

Important: ODR administers debt collection for participating agencies. Reinstating your driver's license may require additional action with the Office of Motor Vehicles after your debt has been resolved.

If You Are Calling on Behalf of Someone Else


For privacy and confidentiality reasons, ODR may only discuss an account with:

  • The debtor
  • An authorized representative
  • A person who has legal authority to act on the debtor's behalf

If you are representing another individual or business, be prepared to provide documentation showing your authority to discuss the account.

Protect Your Personal Information


For your security:

  • Do not email or fax sensitive personal information unless instructed to do so by an ODR representative.
  • Never share your Social Security Number, banking information, or other confidential information unless you have confirmed that you are communicating with an official ODR representative.
