Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Office of Debt Recovery (ODR)
-
I received a letter from ODR indicating that I owe a debt. Is there someone I can contact about this letter?
Yes. If you have questions about a letter you received from ODR, please use the contact information provided on the letter.
For the quickest response, email is recommended. When contacting ODR, please attach a copy of the notice, if available. An ODR representative can explain:
- The notice you received
- The debt referenced
- Available options, including payment arrangements or disputes
-
I set up a payment plan with ODR. Why is my driver’s license still suspended?
An ODR payment plan does NOT remove a suspension or vehicle registration block issued by the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles (OMV).
If your debt includes charges from the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles, you must set up a separate Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles installment agreement to clear suspensions or registration blocks.

Why do I need two payment plans?

Even if Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles debt appears in your ODR account, the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles requires a separate agreement for reinstatement purposes.
